Let the SKY-FALL today !!
The half century anniversary of Ian Fleming’s big screen Agent 007 was the right time to pull off something big. SKYFALL, the 23rd installment in the James Bond franchise, came up with the excellent action extravaganza, more grounded and cogent than the previous two Bonds. However Daniel’s debut in Casino Royale was quite appreciable.
Daniel Craig is back as Agent 007
in the longest running film franchise of all time. This is the Bond who has
something to prove. Even at his lowest, however, he is still capable of pulling
off a very scary drinking trick that involved scorpion on the wrist.
British Director, Sam Mendis has
involved his entire experience to come with such a master piece. The academy
award winner for American Beauty and Road to Perdition has shown his excellence through this 3 hour and 5 minute
classic.
It is
well known that Sam was inspired by Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT. It was
only after this; Sam took up this project confidently. He paid a tribute to his
inspiration, when in one scene Bond is heard saying “the storm is coming”. Also the role of chilling Silva resembles Heath
Ledger’s Joker.
This Bond
is back to basics. No new cars to drive, no new gadgets to showcase. Even the
bond girl was not such that you will fall in love with her at prima facie. However it is so carved
that you won’t feel left alone at any point of time. In a scene, Agent was
handed over the old model gun and a radio by another agent. She was heard
uttering that, “what did you expect, exploding pen”.
The movie
kick starts with an obstreperous
chase scene in Istanbul. MI6 agent Bond and Eve are up to recover a computer
hard drive stolen from a murdered co-agent of MI6. However, during the chase,
Bond is shot on the shoulders by Eve, and later was considered missing,
presumed killed.
This movie basically does not
only revolve around ONE MAN. Every character in this plot has one’s own fight.
Dench, the head of MI6 and
popularly known as “M”, in her seventh
Bond film, isn't just dictating orders from headquarters, but is thrown
directly into the action when a former MI6 agent (Javier Bardem) is bent on
revenge against her. She comes under political pressure to retire during the
meeting with security committee chairman.
Bond returns to London from retirement
(supposedly he planned his death) after he learns of the attack at MI6 headquarters,
killing eight MI6 employees. Bond tracks the mercenary to Shanghai. And finally
he catches hold of Silva. Prime accused, which penetrated the systems of MI6
and planted bomb. Bond overpowers his guards and captures Silva for extraction
to the UK. After a lot hustle bustle, finally comes to a happy ending.
Silva, played by Bardem, again
proved his mastery over the art. He happens to be another Ex-MI6 agent,
probably best of his times (as declared by M
herself) who appears of his grudge against M. Silva holds her responsible for
his torture and imprisonment by the Chinese. He hacks the systems of MI6 office
and plots a serial blast. His appearance in a blonde look sincerely complements
his Spanish accent. He makes the situation light with his funny and sinister
habit.

Overall, Skyfall serves something
for everyone. The movie shows flashes of brilliance. It offers enough to keep
the audience engaged throughout the run-time. It's a must watch for those whose
sole purpose is entertainment, for the movie offers it in plenty.
